the end of leadership as we’ve known it

Traditional leadership is all about feeding insights to employees.

Leaders feed their employees with their own insights — in the form of rules, manuals, processes, policies, steps, techniques, scripts and “best practices.”

But make no mistake. None of this is about insight. It is all about oversight.

And it’s the most insidious form of oversight.

The end of leadership as we've known it

Because, when you feed your employees insights, your insights reign over everything they do, think or say — even when you’re not actually hanging over their shoulders overseeing everything they’re doing, thinking or saying.

To succeed in this new world of business, stop feeding your employees insights.

Instead, nurture their ability to become insightful.

When you feed your employees with OPI (other people’s insights, including your own), you overburden them. You dilute their own innate ability to be insightful. You give them every reason to leave their minds at home.

This ultimately hurts you because it inhibits your employees’ creativity, performance and productivity.

The world of business has changed. Make every day a “bring your brains to work” day.

Else, stay home yourself.

Time to step up to Skills2.0 — the new level of learning that makes you and your employees insightful, not full of insights.
