Most recruiters today are still doing what they’ve always done:
They dig deep to determine whether their candidates have the “right answers” … and also, whether they have the right qualifications, the right education, the right experience.
But what they should be digging for, first and foremost, is whether their candidates know how to ask the right questions.
Because, with the accelerating flux of business, no answer remains right for very long. But the right questions remain timeless.
This is something that most recruiters simple aren’t doing today, but it’s a matter of time before it becomes a necessary prerequisite for all hiring.
Time for both recruiters and recruitees to step up to the new level — now, rather than catching up after the fact.

If you’re a recruiter, make sure to filter out candidates who are full of answers but don’t know how to ask the right questions. See Levels of Learning.
If you’re in the market for a job, make sure your recruiter knows you know how to ask the right questions. Step up to skills2.0.
Thanks to you, Gail. You just gave me an idea for my next cartoon! Aman
This is s timely.
I’ve been struggling with this recent hire who interviewed so well. He could spew out all the answers, no matter what we asked.
But the results are few and far between.
Playing on that old phrase, “So many answers, so little insight!
Now I’m beginning to see why!
Thanks
