The Employee Engagement Crisis

Studies show that employee satisfaction is now at the lowest level ever in recorded history.

In parallel news, Corporate America has been spending more money on Leadership Development than on any other single skill.

Despite all the time and money we’ve spent on leadership training, Employee Engagement is worse than ever before.

The Conference Board, the organization that released the study, cautions that you can’t blame the dismal statistics on the economy. Worker dissatisfaction has been on the rise for more than two decades!

This is more than just an Employee Engagement Crisis. It is a Leadership Crisis.

The Conference Board warns that the consequences of not resolving this crisis urgently is that you will —

  • stifle innovation and
  • hurt your competitiveness and productivity.

It is time to face reality straight in the eye. Leadership Deveopment — which is supposed to make you better at Employee Engagement — has just not been working.

The crisis is actually far deeper than the reports indicate. You may have already recognized that —

  • Despite all the money we’re spending on leadership development, we have never seen a greater shortage of leaders.
  • Despite the plethora of tools now available for “time management,” the number of people feeling overextended is at an all-time high.
  • Despite the immense focus on innovation skills, very few companies today actually churn out game-changing innovations.

No individual or corporation can afford the current level of ineffectiveness.

What an eye -opener. Have circulated this to our executive staff. It’s become fodder, not for any party, but in our HQ hallway. Thanx.
